I am going to be totally honest right now and confess the truth; I have never run a half marathon before or even participated in a race. I am a newbie. I do, however, love running. I started running in college when the gym was too packed to handle and I got hooked. Recently I thought to myself, why not add a little challenge to the activity I already enjoy?
As far my psoriatic psuperhero story goes, psoriasis and I go way back. I was diagnosed with plaque psoriasis when I was seven and struggled to manage my embarrassing symptoms for years. As a kid it was hard to understand that psoriasis is for life, and I hung onto the dream of “one day when I’m all better…” for a very long time. Although I never “got better,” I became stronger, more responsible, and more independent. Managing a disease like psoriasis takes a lot of discipline and determination, it is never easy. This disease not only affects the physical body, but also weighs down on one’s psychological health.
I want nothing more than for my fellow psuperheros and I to have more medical options, a better understanding of this disease, and one day even a cure. We need your help to make this dream come true. Sixteen years ago my life changed forever and for every one of those years I would like to raise $100 for a total goal of $1600.
Please support my dream of a life free of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis by making a personal donation as I run with Team NPF Run. All money raised by Team NPF Run provides people with psoriatic disease the services they need to live well, while funding research for a cure.
