5K to Cure Psoriasis in Columbus is the largest event in the Ohio area dedicated to those living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Your participation ensures continued progress towards a cure while eliminating the devastating effects of these chronic diseases through research, advocacy and education. Psoriasis is the most common autoimmune disease and affects more than 125 million people worldwide.
By raising $25,000 in Columbus, the National Psoriasis Foundation could fund more researchers, like that of Benjamin Kaffenberger, M.D., of The Ohio State University Medical Center, who will explore the relationship between psoriasis and a naturally occurring human enzyme previously identified as a cause for the abnormal immune function of psoriasis. Dr. Kaffenberger received $40,000 from the National Psoriasis Foundation fellowship to study psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis for one year. In addition, Maria-Eugenia Ariza of Ohio State University, received $50,000 in funds from a Discovery Grant – Dr. Ariza explores Identification of signaling pathways and networks modulated by the HERV-K encoded dUTPase by gene expression profiling: Implications in immune dysregulation and psoriasis disease. Columbus Ambassador

Sam Lichten

Sam is 13 years old. Sam has psoriasis. In two sentences I've given you everything you need to know to understand why we are working with the NPF to help organize the fourth annual 5K Run & Walk to Cure Psoriasis in Columbus. Like any of you, we would do anything we can to help our son, and this is one way that we can help increase awareness about psoriasis and fundraise to help find a cure for Sam and the 7.5 Million other Americans like him who battle this disease.

Sam is an incredibly active child - he loves to play football, baseball and is an amazing soccer goalie.  He also loves to read, travel and of course, play video games.  He is determined not to let psoriasis slow him down and we are working to do everything possible to help him with that goal.  Please bring your friends, family and co-workers and join us for a day of fun on October 26.  We look forward to seeing you there.  - Jason & Rachel Lichten

Raise $250 or more and you will join an exclusive group of walkers and supporters who are leading the charge to find a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Learn more about how to become a Cure Champion.
